IDF soldiers conducted counterterrorism activities in Judea and Samaria and demolished the residences of the terrorists who committed the deadly attack in Ariel in April 2022
On April 29, 2022, two Palestinian terrorists, Yusef Aatsi and Yahi Merai, carried out a deadly shooting attack at the entrance to the city of Ariel, murdering the Israeli security guard Vyacheslav Golev. The two terrorists are currently in detention.
Overnight, IDF and Israel Border Police forces demolished the terrorists’ residences. The demolition took place after the petition from the terrorists’ families was rejected by the Supreme Court.
During the activity, hundreds of Palestinians instigated a number of violent riots. The rioters hurled rocks, Molotov cocktails and burning tires at the soldiers. The forces responded with riot dispersal means.
In addition, IDF, ISA and Israel Border Police forces conducted counterterrorism activities in a number of locations in Judea and Samaria, including in the the towns of Bani Naim, Bidu, Aqabat Jabr and Iskaka and in the city of Tulkarm.
IDF soldiers operated in the town of Bayt Fajar to apprehend two wanted suspects. During counterterrorism activity in the Deheisha camp, two additional suspects were apprehended and dozens of Palestinians instigated a violent riot. The rioters hurled rocks, Molotov cocktails and explosive devices at the soldiers. The soldiers responded with live fire and riot dispersal means.
During the activities, IDF soldiers operated to apprehend one individual suspected of terrorist activities. The soldiers also operated to confiscate illegal weapons in the town of Qusra.
In addition, the soldiers apprehended two additional suspects in the town of Beit Dekko. During the activity, a violent riot was instigated, during which the rioters were hurling rocks and heavy explosive devices. The soldiers responded with live fire.
No IDF injuries were reported.
A total of ten suspects were apprehended and transferred to security forces for further questioning.
