The Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi Conducted a Meeting with Dozens of Reserve Commanders Throughout the IDF

Yesterday (Wednesday), the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, conducted a meeting with dozens of reserve commanders from the Israeli Ground Forces, the Intelligence Directorate (J2), the Israeli Air Force and the Israeli Navy. Also participating in the meeting were the Head of the Manpower Directorate (J1), the Commanding Officer of the Israeli Ground Forces, the Chief Reserve Officer, commanding officers of reserve divisions and brigades and additional IDF commanders.

The participants held an open and respectful discourse, which allowed for the expression of different viewpoints and established a common ground for further discussion.

Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi:
"Certain cracks can form that will be irreparable in the future. Refusal is a ‘red line,' it should not be in the military protocol. It is unacceptable to discuss refusal, it is unacceptable to act on refusal. We have a mission that should be performed with distinction; it enables our lives and the very existence of this dispute, which needs to be protected all around so that it can proceed in a dignified manner.

Every person in this room shares the same love for this country, the same love for the IDF and the same willingness to risk their lives for important goals. The reservists are an inseparable part of the IDF and take part in all of its missions. I condemn the inappropriate remarks made toward the reservists and servicemembers. The word ‘traitors’ should not be used; there are none here.

I am responsible for ensuring that the IDF’s missions align with its values and are carried out in a legal and stately manner. I am aware that my words bear a significant meaning; I am aware that I am taking on a tremendous responsibility, alongside all of the commanders here and those who are not. Trust in us."
