The change of command ceremony took place today at Camp Gur (Beit Lid) and was led by the Commanding Officer of the Central Command, MG Yehuda Fox, and the Commanding Officer of the
98th Fire Formation Division, BG Dan Goldfuss, and with the participation of additional commanders, soldiers, families and guests.

Commanding Officer of the 98th Fire Formation Division, BG Dan Goldfuss:
“Night and day, in every sector and region, in a reality where our enemies actively operate to harm civilians - you, the soldiers and commanders of the Commando Brigade, conduct operational activities and demand of yourselves to achieve victory. Every soldier and commander in this brigade thrives on completing missions without excuses, in a moral and precise manner and setting a continuous demand for excellence. The battle spirit that beats in the heart of the commando units is what drives you from one operational activity to the next, from one initiative to another. Manny, the brigade grew and developed under your command, with each of its units advancing and gaining strength while maintaining its identity and purpose. In the art of your command and leadership, you made the whole greater than the sum of its parts. Omer, you are taking command, I have no doubt that the rich experience you have acquired over the years, including during your time as the Commanding Officer of the Duvdevan Unit, will be at your disposal in your new position. Many challenges lie ahead, however I am certain you will continue to lead the Commando Brigade to maintain the uniqueness of its units and the strength that is in their unity. I have no doubt that you will carry out this task in the best way."

"It is very difficult to sum up one week in the Commando Brigade, let alone two whole years. Just last week, the brigade’s headquarters along with the Maglan and Egoz Units, conducted a brigade exercise as part of the IDF exercise “Firm Hand” in the northern arena. The Duvdevan Unit conducted operational activities in Nur Shams, the soldiers of the Commando Training School conducted an exercise to summarize their training as well as navigations in the south, and the Brigade’s reserve units engaged in preparations for training. We operate successfully thanks to our people, our values and our spirit. Over the last two years, we have worked together extensively to be ready for the day of command, through grueling training, day and night, in Israel and abroad, in the operational units and the Commando Training School. Along the way we learned that there is no substitute for examining our actions and learning from them. Those who want to improve and be prepared for war must look at the truth closely. The Commando Brigade's strength is in the uniqueness of each of our units, as well as in the unity of the brigade as a whole. Thank you for this privilege."
