CSM Haim––a company commander in the Medical Battalion of the Haifa district meant to assist hospitals in the region during times of emergency. His son, SSF Mark––a company sergeant major in the same Battalion, has been serving together with his father for 13 years in the same reserve battalion in the Home Front Command’s Haifa District.

CSM Haim enlisted in the IDF in May 1981 and took an active part in the First Lebanon War in 1982 as a combat soldier in the Combat Engineering Corps.

In 1985, he served as a Company Sergeant Major in the 3rd Instructional Base (Bahad 3) for a year and a half. Later, he was transferred to the Northern Command and served as a Logistics NCO in the 36th Division. CSM Haim got released in 1996 and continues to work in a defense related job to this day.

His son, Mark, enlisted in 2007 and served as a combat soldier in the Kfir Brigade. After participating in Operation Cast Lead, he was injured; he therefore changed positions in the IDF and served in that role for an additional year before getting released.

Around 13 years ago, the two of them began serving together in the same reserve battalion. CSM Haim served as a company commander and his son as part of the unit.

Both of them view their service together as an exciting opportunity that connects and deepens their family bond.
