Last week, an assembly was held to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Givati Infantry Brigade at the International Convention Center in Jerusalem, Israel.

Before the brigade was officially established in 1983, soldiers in the Givati Brigade fought in the War of Independence in 1948. The brigade has since taken part in operations in both central Israel and Gaza.

The assembly was led by MG Eliezer Toledano–the Commanding Officer of the Southern Command. BG Nadav Lotan–Commanding Officer of the 162nd Division, COL Eliad Moati–the Commanding Officer of the Givati Brigade attended the celebration alongside former commanders and additional active and reserve duty personnel.

"Combat soldiers of the Givati Brigade–you are my soldiers. You perform counterterrorism activities in order to protect the State of Israel and its civilians. Take pride in the fact that you are combat soldiers. The people of Israel have always and will always believe in the Givati Brigade. My hope is that the brigade continues to operate in the path and spirit of the IDF.”–MG Eliezer Toledano, Commanding Officer of the Southern Command.

"The heritage of the Givati Brigade dates back to the establishment of the State of Israel. My soldiers, I am proud of you for your sense of mission and high morals. You defend and overcome difficulties for the greater good at all times. I take pride in that you come from diverse backgrounds from all parts of the country and carry the State of Israel’s safety on your shoulders. I pray for peaceful days ahead and security for you and everyone in Israel. Thank you for all that you do, you are true heroes. "–COL Eliad Moati, Commanding Officer of the Givati Brigade.
