Delegation of UN Ambassadors Visits IDF
On Monday, the delegation visited the 91st Galilee Division. There, the ambassadors were briefed by the Commanding Officer of the 91st Division, BG Shay Kalper, on the IDF’s strategic challenges in the northern arena. Among the topics addressed were the Hezbollah terrorist army's exploitation of Lebanon's population and resources to advance the destructive agenda of the Iranian regime and the resources it devotes to terrorism with the aim of entrenching its terrorist infrastructure inside residential areas. The delegation also visited the “Ramya” underground cross-border attack tunnel, which was dug by the Hezbollah terrorist army to infiltrate Israel from Lebanon and harm its civilians.
Yesterday, the delegation toured the Palmachim Air Force Base. There, the Commanding Officer of the Fire Control Center, COL Y., briefed the ambassadors on the threats that various terrorist organizations operating in Gaza pose to the residents of southern Israel. The delegation also received a briefing on Israel’s aerial defense from the Head of the Iron Dome International Project in the Israel Missile Defense Organization, Lt. Col. Yishay Kohn. Following the tour, the delegation was presented with the Iron Dome aerial defense system, which plays an integral part in the IDF's ability to maintain the security of Israeli civilians living under the constant threat of terrorist rocket fire.

Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations, Mr. Gilad Erdan
“Over the past couple of days, the Ambassadors saw first-hand the will of Hezbollah and Hamas to destroy the State of Israel through their investment in terror tunnels, rockets, and missiles. The Ambassadors gained a deeper grasp that we are dealing with ruthless terrorist organizations that indiscriminately fire at our civilians. I hope that next time there is a conflict, they will remember what they saw and it will help them understand that these terror organizations must be held responsible for the loss of life during the operation.”

Commanding Officer of the 91st Galilee Division, BG Shay Kalper:
“The soldiers of the 91st Division fight terrorism every day. The threat posed by the Hezbollah terrorist army looms over the heads of Israeli and Lebanese civilians at all times, and we have made it our mission to ensure that the residents of northern Israel feel safe and secure in their homes. One of the goals of this visit was to see firsthand the threat Hezbollah poses and to understand why it must be addressed. Hezbollah operates globally, despite the perception that it is only an Israeli issue. It is easier to recognize the danger Hezbollah poses when looking down at the dark opening of an underground attack tunnel or standing close to the Blue Line and seeing these armed terrorists in their vehicles patrolling along the fence. You must remember that feeling when you leave here today. Hezbollah is one of the most heavily armed terrorist bodies in the world. Although the values it promotes are violent and anti-democratic, its extremist operatives have mastered the art of hiding behind uninvolved men, women and children to gain the public’s sympathy and support. So long as Hezbollah remains lurking over the border, subsidizing itself through criminal activity with the assistance of the Iranian regime, the IDF will be here, justly defending Israel's civilians and operating ceaselessly against organized terrorism that poses a threat to civilians all over the world.”
