A Confrontation was Instigated Between a Palestinian and an IDF Soldier, who Used Excessive Violence Against the Palestinian

During IDF activity in the city of Hebron yesterday (Sunday), a confrontation was instigated between a Palestinian and an IDF soldier, who used excessive violence against the Palestinian. Another soldier and an officer who were also present at the scene did not act to stop this soldier’s actions.

After the incident, and following an initial inquiry, the Battalion commander suspended those involved in the incident from their positions. The IDF Military Police opened an investigation. The findings of the investigation will be transferred to the Military Advocate General.

The Chief of the General Staff: “This is a very serious incident which does not align with IDF values, its code of conduct and the behavior expected from IDF soldiers and commanders”. The Chief of the General Staff instructed to complete the investigation as soon as possible and to suspend the officer and the two soldiers from their positions.
