The Unit for Underwater Fighting (The YALTAM unit) is an underwater force that specializes in diving and performing special missions deep in the sea.
Among the tasks the unit is responsible for are underwater sabotage and the installation of underwater means, along with various experiments - all in a challenging and unfamiliar environment.
Through various technological systems, the soldiers carry out their missions and enable the IDF to reach maritime superiority in the face of environmental challenges, in addition to diving rescue, joint training with foreign fleets, and ongoing activities with underwater weapons.
The fighters' course takes about a year, where they are qualified for a variety of complex diving styles, underwater missions, and the operation of the unit's vessels. The unit recruits both men and women.
