6 Years of Hamas’ Al-Aqsa TV

Exactly six years ago today, Hamas launched its own television station: Al-Aqsa TV. The station quickly became a highly-effective propaganda tool, which Hamas continues to use to preach its message of hatred of the West, Jews, and Israel.

Through Al-Aqsa TV, Hamas broadcasts a variety of programming, including sermons, political speeches and children’s shows that inspire Gazan youth to become suicide bombers when they grow up.

6. Hamas Fighters Simulate Capture of Israeli Soldier (June 16, 2008)

After Hamas terrorists kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, the organization celebrated the attack and called on Gazans to continue to capture soldiers. Here, Hamas fighters simulate the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier, to music.

 

5. Cartoon: Jews Endanger the Al-Aqsa Mosque (December 2007)

Anti-semitism is a core part of Hamas’ ideology. In a children’s cartoon, Hamas uses classic anti-semitic imagery to vilify Jews and suggest that they are secretly destroying the Al-Aqsa mosque from deep underground.

4. Hamas Preacher: Death to the Jews and to America (December 2, 2011)

Every Friday, Gazans head en masse to their local mosque to pray. Here, a Hamas preacher took advantage of a captive audience and called on his followers to kill Jews.

3. Hamas Prime Minister: We Will Not Recognize Israel (December 2010)

In an address to thousands of people gathered in Gaza City, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh stands in front of a giant picture of Jerusalem’s Dome of the Rock and exclaims three times: “We will not recognize Israel!”

2. Suicide Bombing Mastermind Ahlam Tamimi: “I Had Hoped for a Larger Toll” (July 12, 2012)

On August 9, 2001, a Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up in the Sbarro restaurant in downtown Jerusalem, killing 15 Israeli civilians, including seven children, and wounding 130. The mastermind behind the attack was Ahlam Tamimi. In an Al-Aqsa TV interview, she describes the joy she felt after hearing about the attack’s “success.”

1. Farfour “Martyred” by Israelis (June 29, 2007)

Farfour, Hamas’s version of Mickey Mouse, served as co-host of the popular Al-Aqsa TV children’s show Tomorrow's Pioneers. In his final episode, Farfour is “martyred” by an Israeli security operative, after refusing to hand over the “land documents” that will help him “liberate Jerusalem."
