The Bardelas Battalion (227th Battalion) is a coed infantry battalion. It's under the Eilat Regional Brigade in the Southern Command. The battalion is the third coed battalion in the Israel Defense Forces and is commanded by a Lieutenant Colonel. The soldiers in the battalion wear a light green beret and red boots.
The battalion was founded in August 2015 and began operational activities a year later. The battalion trains both male and female combat soldiers to maintain the security of the Arava Region, which stretches from the Dead Sea to Eilat. The training is seven months long, during which the soldiers practice firing weapons, urban warfare, and other forms of combat.
The recruits of the Bardelas Battalion train in the Regavim camp, the Golani Brigade's training base.
