Valentine's Day Special: “We Fell in Love During Officers’ Course”

The IDF is a great place for soldiers to meet new people, friends and potential life partners. The IDF has had a central role in the stories of hundreds of couples in Israel. Even the IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, met his wife for the first time during his service in the Paratroopers Brigade.

In honor of Valentines’ Day, we bring you the story of Elad and Sigal.

Elad and Sigal got to know each other during their officers’ course. “We didn’t really notice each other during the course, but everything changed near the end. We went on a week in the field, and were assigned to the same military vehicle with another officer. Our love story began there and hasn’t stopped.”

It can be complicated to nurture a romantic connection in a military framework, but in the case of Elad and Sigal, being in the army made it easier. Everyone was supportive of their relationship – even their commander. “Everyone knew we were together. Even our completion course commander, who is still a close friend of our today, was really happy that we were together.”

What’s your Valentine’s Day love story?
