The Commander in Chief of the Israeli Navy, VADM David Saar Salama, visited the U.S. Fifth Fleet Headquarters yesterday (Thursday) along with Head of Naval Operations (N3), Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari. The visit takes place alongside the Israeli Defense Minister's historic delegation to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
As part of the Commander in Chief of the Israeli Navy's visit to the Fifth Fleet's Headquarters, VADM Salama visited the Naval Control Center and attended a variety of operational intelligence briefings.
This visit coincides with the "IMX" exercise, which began on Monday in the Red Sea and will continue next month. The exercise is led by the U.S. Fifth Fleet. Participating in the exercise is one of the IDF's Missile Ship Flotillas and the Underwater Mission Unit, along with the U.S. Fifth Fleet in the Red Sea.
This visit by the Commander in Chief of the Israeli Navy is a continuation of three previous visits by the Commander of the Fifth Fleet, Vice Admiral ( * * * ) Brad Cooper, to Israel. The visit further strengthens the close cooperation and important strategic operational ties between the fleets.
Commander in Chief of the Israeli Navy, Vice Admiral David Saar Salama:
"This visit is an example of the strong ties with our partner, the U.S. Central Command. This visit is a great opportunity to learn about the common security challenges and maritime threats in the region."
Commander of the U.S. Fifth Fleet, Vice Admiral (**) Brad Cooper:*
"The U.S. and Bahrain have a long-standing strategic partnership. The visit of the Israeli Defense Minister signifies the expanding partnership with Israel following the IDF's realignment to CENTCOM. We are always better when we work with our international partners."
