New Headquarters Established to Coordinate Activities in Gaza with International Partners
In recent weeks, the IDF has established a headquarters dedicated to coordinating and synchronizing the defense establishment’s activities with the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) in Kiryat Gat.
The Civil-Military Coordination Center, led by the U.S. military, includes numerous partners, among them representatives of foreign countries and various international organizations. The Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, appointed the Commander of the General Staff Corps, Maj. Gen. Yaki Dolf, to lead the IDF headquarters responsible for coordinating the IDF’s connection to the center.
The headquarters is currently working to continue to implement Phase A of the agreement to return all the hostages, as well as planning Phase B, which focuses on continuing to disarm Hamas and on the demilitarization and rehabilitation of Gaza.
The Deputy Chief of Staff announced the establishment of a new main headquarters, and in recent days more than 100 permanent positions have been opened for long-term staffing, with dozens of conscript soldiers also expected to be assigned.
The IDF headquarters includes permanent representatives from all relevant branches and divisions—the Intelligence Directorate, the Planning Directorate, the Southern Command, ICT, the Technology and Logistics Directorate, the International Law Department, the Navy, the Air Force, and COGAT. In addition, it operates a 24/7 operational command center.
The headquarters is intended to safeguard Israel’s security interests while planning, coordinating, and assisting in the implementation of security efforts, humanitarian aid, and infrastructure rehabilitation in Gaza.
The commander of the headquarters, Maj. Gen. Yaki Dolf, said: “The mission of the headquarters is to implement the agreement in accordance with the guidance of the political echelon, while safeguarding Israel’s security interests. In recent weeks, we have already witnessed strong cooperation with our partners. We are now in the planning stages so that we can move quickly from planning to execution, with Israel’s security needs serving as a cornerstone of any future plan.”
