The IDF reveals a series of special operations in Syrian territory, during which the IDF detained and transferred for interrogation operatives from several terrorist cells operated by Unit 840 - the Quds Force’s special operations unit. The terrorist cells were directed by the unit with the aim of carrying out terrorist attacks against the State of Israel.

In March and April of this year, two field operatives of the unit were captured in Syrian territory - Zidan Al-Tuwail and Muhammad Al-Kharyan. In recent weeks, the IDF detained several members of terrorist cells, operated by terrorists from Lebanon, Qassem Salah Al-Husseini and Muhammad Shaib - both eliminated last month in Lebanon. Al-Husseini and Shaib played key roles in the weapons smuggling route from Iran into Judea and Samaria and the northern arena.

During the interrogations of the detained terrorists, it was revealed that some of them did not even know on whose behalf they were operating, and that many were recruited to Unit 840 without disclosure of the unit’s true motives and through financial bribes.

Unit 840 is responsible for advancing and remotely directing acts of terrorism against Israelis and Jews in Israel and abroad. The discreet operations now being revealed combine the significant actions taken against the unit throughout the war, from thwarting attempts to smuggle advanced Iranian weapons into Judea and Samaria, to striking Syrian Army bases in the eastern part of the country that were used by the unit.

The Quds Force exploits the situation of Lebanese and Syrian civilians to deceitfully recruit them for terrorist activity that endangers them, using bribes and lies. The IDF and the ISA will continue to operate against Unit 840 and against all branches of the Iranian axis that pose a threat to the State of Israel.
