The Conference for Commanders of Reserve Combat Troops
The Chief of the General Staff convened today (Monday) an operational forum attended by commanders of reserve combat troops at the rank of LTC and above, alongside the General Staff Forum.
The forum follows the operational forum held last week and is part of the IDF’s broader process of strengthening routine and foundational structures — processes the IDF is undertaking as the year 2026 approaches.
During the forum, Prime Minister Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defense Mr. Israel Katz addressed the participants. Operational briefings were presented by commanders of the regional commands and branches. In addition, the Head of the Manpower Directorate presented the extensive support framework provided to reservists and their families. Later, a panel was held featuring former hostages Noa Argamani and Liri Albag; IDF wounded soldier SSGT (Res.) Netanel Kugel, who was injured during an operation in Gaza; Hadas Hershkovitz, widow of SGM (Res.) Yossi Hershkovitz, who fell in battle in Gaza; and Rabbi Elhanan Danino, father of the deceased and returned hostage MSG Ori Danino.
From the remarks of the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir:
"Two years after October 7th, the IDF has changed its approach. Containment no longer exists, we act proactively and decisively, defend from the front, and create a barrier between civilians and the enemy. Today, Israel stands as a regional power. We have operated across seven arenas, in all of which the strategic picture has shifted. The result of your determined efforts is a transformation in Israel’s standing in the Middle East.
At the same time, we must focus on returning to full readiness and strengthening our foundations. We are at the beginning of a comprehensive recovery process across all domains, including the inquiry of the war which will shape the way forward.
It is important for me to say here, we fully understand the price that you and your families have paid over the past two years, a price you continue to bear. We are working to provide you with the best and most supportive framework possible and to establish a clear outlook for the coming year, these are key processes that are at the top of our priorities.
These days, we are working to reinforce our foundations, restore order and discipline. The immense experience you have gained in combat will help us all draw lessons, learn, and prepare for the future challenges we will face.
This is an opportunity to express deep appreciation for your dedication, professionalism, and your continued readiness to answer the call time and again. You are the people of Israel at its finest."
