The Chief of the German Air Force, Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz (* * *), arrived in Israel this week for an official visit, marking the end of his seven-year term in office.

During his visit, the General toured the communities surrounding the Gaza Strip, visited defense industries, and met with the Commanding Officer of the Israeli Air Force, Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar.
Additionally, he visited the “Red Baron” Squadron at Tel Nof Airbase, accompanied by the squadron commander and the base commander.
This is a joint Israeli-German squadron that serves as a training center for German UAV operators — a testament to the close cooperation between the two air forces.

"My first trip abroad as Chief of the German Air Force was to Israel in 2018 shortly after I took over and now, after seven years, I'm coming back here for my last trip just before I handover the Air Force to my successor. It closes a circle."

General Gerhartz's farewell visit highlights his commitment to the continued operational, technological, and strategic cooperation between Germany and Israel.
