“The number of terror incidents in the past year is among the lowest we have known, thanks to the operational and professional activity here."
The Chief of General Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, visited Central Command today (Tuesday), together with the Commander of Central Command, Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth; the Commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, Brig. Gen. Kobi Heller; the Commander of Division 96, Brig. Gen. Oren Simcha; brigade commanders and additional commanders.
As part of the visit, the Chief of General Staff visited forces in the Binyamin Regional Brigade and the Samaria Regional Brigade, conducted a situational assessment, and spoke with division and brigade commanders operating in the Central Command about the challenges in the sector and recent events.
Chief of General Staff’s remarks:
“Israel and the IDF are in the midst of a historic and unprecedented multi-front war against the Iranian terror regime and its proxies throughout the region. At this very moment, the IDF is striking in Lebanon and Tehran while defending along all borders.
Last night we eliminated the intelligence minister of the Iranian terror regime, Ismail Khatib, and at the same time we struck the commander of the Imam Hussein Division, who had not yet settled into his role after we eliminated his predecessor.”
“The exceptional work of Central Command, led by the Commanding General, the Judea and Samaria Division commander, and the regional brigade commanders, deserves great appreciation. The number of terror incidents over the past year is among the lowest we have known, thanks to the operative and professional activity carried out here.
However, the nature of terrorism is that it can strike at any moment. Therefore, your first duty is to maintain high readiness, strong defense of the communities, and to continue a determined and uncompromising fight against terrorism. We must provide security, maintain high availability, and reach any point in the field within short timeframes in order to thwart terrorism in the area.”
“In recent times, there has been an increase in nationalist crime incidents, some of which are directed against our soldiers and toward civilians. It is unacceptable that during a multi-front war, the IDF must also contend with a threatening minority from within. These are rioters who do not represent the communities. On the contrary, they endanger the communities, security stability, and our values as a people and as a state.
I call on all authorities in the country to act against this phenomenon and uproot it before it is too late. Anyone who thinks these actions help security is mistaken, they are morally and ethically unacceptable and cause extraordinary strategic damage to the IDF’s efforts.”
Message to commanders:
“Commanders - you operate day and night, under complex conditions, for the security of the State of Israel, the communities, and their residents. I deeply appreciate you for this.
The last thing I would want is for your work to be made harder beyond the existing challenges of carrying out your mission. There is no place in public discourse for statements or incitement against commanders who work daily to eradicate terrorism and ensure Israel’s security.
Continue your excellent work - stand behind you.”
