The Chief of the General Staff in the Gaza Strip
Today (Sunday), the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir, conducted a field tour and situational assessment in the Gaza Strip along with the Commander of the Southern Command, MG Yaniv Asor, the Commander of the 98th Division, BG Guy Levy, the Commander of the 7th Brigade, COL S, the Commander of the 214th Brigade, Colonel R, battalion commanders, and additional senior officers.
The Chief of the General Staff conducted an observation deep inside Shejaiya, spoke with battalion commanders about the achievements of Operation "Gideon’s Chariots”, and discussed plans for the continued operations in the Gaza Strip.
From the remarks of the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir:
“You are operating with courage in a war that is as just as can be. Our objectives, and the achievements you deliver, is what will lead to a lasting security shift for years to come.
The events in Syria—the massacre of the Druze in As Suwayda—prove once again that in the Middle East, those who cannot defend themselves cannot live in security. Terrorist organizations and jihadist elements pose a threat in every arena, and we must confront them, just as you are doing here.
Your operational achievements here—the elimination of terrorists, the dismantling of infrastructure both above and below ground, gaining operational control of extensive areas and clearing them of threats — will enable us to create a shift in our operational patterns.
We will implement new operational formats that will amplify our strengths, reduce vulnerabilities, and deepen operational gains. These will drive Hamas into increasing distress and reduce our troops’ attrition. We have presented the options to the political level, and we will stabilize the reality according to our interests.
Your achievements in the field as part of Operation ‘Gideon’s Chariots’ are advancing Hamas’ defeat and creating the potential for a hostage deal.
Unfortunately, in battle, there are also losses. This is part of the reality of war. Our soldiers fell in the sacred mission of defending the nearby communities. We are fighting to protect ourselves. This cannot be done by defense alone; we defend through offense. That is a central lesson from October 7.
This is a time for perseverance and patience. Only in this way will we reach a point where we break our enemies. If, in the coming days, we reach a deal to return the hostages, it will be your achievement. Every hostage freed is thanks to your combat.”
