“Hashmonaim Brigade’s 613th Battalion Completes Its First Battalion Exercise: “You Can Be Ultra-Orthodox and Be a Combat Soldier — You Are Making History”

The 613th Battalion of the Hashmonaim Brigade completed its first battalion level exercise yesterday (Tuesday) in the Golan Heights area, marking the conclusion of the battalion’s operational certification process and its preparation for operational activity.

Throughout the exercise, the troops trained in combat in open terrain, targeted operations, and urban warfare scenarios.

The 613th Battalion is the brigade’s first battalion composed of mandatory-service troops. As part of its combat training, the troops completed designated courses in explosives handling, heavy machine gun operation, drones, urban combat training, and sniping – all adapted to their way of life and enabling the battalion to operate as a cohesive, organic formation.

From the remarks of the Commander of the Ground Forces, MG Nadav Lotan:

“You can be ultra-Orthodox and be a combat soldier – you are making history. The Hashmonaim Brigade continues to establish itself as a combat brigade within the Ground Forces. This exercise, along with the establishment of the battalions, marks another significant step forward. I am proud of you – the brigade’s troops and commanders. You operate at a high operational standard while preserving your unique identity.”

From the remarks of the Commander of the 613th Battalion, LTC (Rabbi) A.:

“We are living in a historic moment. We are cultivating God-fearing combat soldiers – courageous, capable, and principled individuals. Men of strength who step forward as pioneers before the rest. We are building trust, and we are only at the beginning of this journey. The battalion exercise is an integral part of the battalion’s operational certification – shaping a high-quality infantry battalion prepared for every mission, in every arena. With strength and creativity.”
