Good evening and Shabbat Shalom

IDF troops deepened the ground operation in Gaza City, following the completion of the encirclement of the area. The forces continue to target terrorists, and find and destroy terrorist infrastructure. We pursue and kill Hamas field commanders, above and below ground. From the beginning of combat, in cooperation with the ISA, we eliminated 10 Hamas terrorists who held the rank equivalent to battalion or brigade commander. These are the leaders in the field who command the combat against our forces. They are also the ones who planned the barbaric massacre on October 7th and carried it out with their subordinates. We killed and eliminated them and will continue to eliminate those who lead the combat against our troops, wherever they may be. At any given moment, including now, there are dozens of aircraft ready, along with naval and ground forces, prepared to attack any terrorist and any threat within minutes.

Forces from Yahalom Unit  [the special operation combat engineering unit] in coordination with infantry and armor units, conduct a wide variety of special operations, with the goal of discovering and destroying Hamas terror tunnels that serve as part of Hamas’ field defense against our forces.

This evening, IDF commanders and soldiers will have the Sabbath meal on the battlefield. Just moments ago I spoke with some of the commanders in the field and I wish to convey to you: morale is high; they are strong; they are determined; they are prepared; they know what they are fighting for. They are fighting for us and for you and fighting for our home here in Israel.

In the North, the IDF struck Hezbollah anti-tank firing positions and a Hezbollah military post. This was in response to, among other things, the firing of an anti-tank missile that was fired today from Lebanese territory. Additionally, the troops fired towards suspects who approached the border. We will continue to act against anyone attempting to fire into our territory or approach the fence; they will be eliminated. We will act with determination on the northern border against any threat to the State of Israel.

On the homefront, I call on everyone to continue to follow the Homefront Command instructions as they are updated. As Shabbat enters, we shouldn’t become complacent. At home or outside, remain alert, to keep you and your loved ones safe.

So far, the IDF has informed the families of 241 hostages. Our hearts are with the families and the hostages. We continue the utmost effort to bring them all home. We have notified the families of 341 fallen IDF soldiers. This is in addition to 58 fallen Israel Police, and 10 ISA members who have fallen during the war. They are all heroes of Israel, defenders of the land.

Bereaved families, I cannot imagine what you are going through on this Friday night. Know that we embrace you, now and forever.
