Luxury Homes Turned Terrorism Hubs: Why is the IDF striking in Gaza’s Upscale Rimal Neighborhood?

The IDF has been extensively striking Gaza’s Rimal neighborhood over the past few days. Unlike the majority of Gazan neighborhoods, Rimal is spacious and filled with skyscrapers and luxury villas, which have recently been transformed by Hamas into terrorist strongholds.

Unlike Khan Yunis, which is known to be associated with Hamas and has also been extensively struck, Rimal is considered to be an upscale neighborhood where Gazan sovereignty symbols are located, such as the Palestinian presidential palace, hotels, hospitals and homes belonging to senior members of the Hamas terrorist organization.

So why is the IDF striking there?

Hamas thought we would not suspect Gaza’s skyscrapers. Quietly, hostile Hamas terrorist operatives have transformed the neighborhood into a terrorist stronghold, crawling with terrorist command centers from which Hamas senior operatives are planning, directing, and carrying out terrorist attacks against Israel.

Over the past few days, IDF aircraft have struck hundreds of Hamas targets, leading to the complete destruction of Hamas’ terrorist infrastructure in the neighborhood. Among the targets were multi-story buildings that housed Hamas headquarters, operational control centers, weapons storage facilities and an Islamic National Bank branch. This branch was used by the Hamas terrorist organization to transfer funds used to carry out attacks under the orders of Hamas’ current leader, Yahya Sinwar.

The IDF will continue to strike and thwart terrorist targets throughout Gaza.
