IDF Medical Corps Field Hospitals – A Humanitarian Medical Response in the Service of Military Diplomacy

ABSTRACT: In recent years, the use of humanitarian aid has grown, not only to save lives, but also as part of the IDF's diplomatic and public relations effort. This can be seen in the many humanitarian aid missions, the field hospital at the Erez Crossing during Operation Protective Edge, and the field hospital in the Golan to treat victims of the Syrian Civil War. It seems that the professional medical and emergency aid brings about a change in the way those who are treated see Israel, along with the important diplomatic recognition by international relief organizations. Therefore, creating principles for employing the humanitarian tool as a continuous, ongoing effort, can bring significant achievement for operational plans in war and in peace.
