How We Got Here and What Do We Do Now? DCJ, 2014-2019

ABSTRACT: The articles published in DCJ in the journal's first five years exhibited diverse critical writing about force design, military transformation, and innovation, particularly in the IDF. This paper summarizes and highlights those articles dealing with land maneuver, and includes proposals for how to extract it from the confusion and morass that characterized it for the last generation. Alongside them the paper presents the group of articles dealing with the development and implementation of advanced technologies and their integration into concepts appropriate for contemporary strategic reality. Due to space constraints, many DCJ articles dealing with other important aspects of the force design process—in which authors indicate gaps, barriers and delays of various sorts, and offer ways to overcome them—were not described in this paper.
