How Did We Get Stuck and What Should We Do Now?

ABSTRACT: The articles published in The Dado Center Journal's first five years show diverse and critical writing about force design, military transformation and innovation, principally in the IDF. This paper summarizes and emphasizes those articles that dealt with ground maneuver, and included proposals for rehabilitating it from the impasse and confusion that have characterized it for a generation. Alongside them, this paper highlights a group of articles that addressed the development and integration of advanced technologies and their incorporation into concepts that are appropriate to the 21^st century. For the sake of brevity many articles published in the DCJ are not reviewed here, although they too deal with other important aspects of force design processes, and whose authors point out failures, obstacles and delays of various kinds and suggest ways to overcome them.
