ABSTRACT: Israel is in constant military competition with its adversaries. The IDF's efforts against short-range rockets and munitions - ground-based defense systems like "Iron Dome" alongside ground fighting in enemy territory - have achieved satisfactory results. According to the author, the IDF must connect the technological opportunity of early interception of ballistic missiles with a strategic-conceptual change, so as to achieve clearer and more rapid results in the field. Developing tactical air defense systems, which will accompany the maneuvering forces and enable interception of missiles and rockets at the earliest stages of their flight, could change the current battlefield beyond all recognition. Conceptually Israel will succeed in returning the fighting to enemy territory, and diverting the adversary from using short-range weapons.
