DUVDEVAN UNIT

The Duvdevan Unit (217) was established in June 1986, with the understanding that a specific method of warfare should be developed to deal with various security events in the Judea and Samaria region, especially among densely populated civilian areas.

The unit is an elite unit dedicated to fighting in various areas and works to prevent terrorist activities and functions openly and undercover among the local Arab population.

In the wave of terrorism that began in 2015, the unit played a significant role in the daily struggle against terrorists in Judea and Samaria. Most of the significant arrests during this period can be attributed to the unit, including the arrest of the murderers of the Henkin couple, the arrest of the murderer of Dafna Meir, the arrest of the murderers of Rabbi Littman and his son, and many more. In October 2016 the unit received the Chief of Staff Citation for its work during the terror wave.

Once the unit joined the Commando Brigade, it began gradually expanding its operational activities in order to adapt itself to the dynamic methods of the brigade.

MAGLAN UNIT

The Maglan unit (212) is a commando unit whose mission is to operate deep in enemy territory while focusing on attacking and destroying specific targets and gathering accurate intelligence. Maglan was established in June 1986 as an elite unit specializing in anti-tank warfare using advanced weapons. It is a part of the Commando Brigade.

The unit also has an advanced weapons development division whose mission is to find creative solutions and technological innovations in accordance with the operational needs and the classified activities of the unit.

The unit was named after the ibis bird, which also appears on the unit’s pin. The first commander of the unit, Lt. Col. (ret.) Danny Herman, said: "This bird was very rare in Israel, but it was welcomed and began to nest in it, meaning that it managed to adjust to life here and integrate into the growing country."

EGOZ UNIT

The Egoz Unit (621) was established in 1995 and was named after the legendary "Egoz" reconnaissance unit. The unit was established in order to bring about a revolution in terms of the IDF's capabilities in combating the Hezbollah terror organization, and to this day it specializes in guerrilla warfare, mainly along the northern border of the country. It is a part of the Commando Brigade.

Egoz specializes in fighting in complex terrains, fieldcraft, camouflage, and in miniature warfare (short-range warfare in which the quality and professionalism of the soldier are the main components which bring them success). The unit operates at any time, in any arena and in every sector, while focusing on northern Israel.

The unit also has a unique weapons division – the unit's development company, which is responsible for finding creative solutions and technological innovations for problems that arise in the field, and providing protection against new enemy attacks.
