IDF Intelligence revealed that Qassem Solemiani, Commander of the elite Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force unit, directly commanded the operation from Iran.

Iranian Quds operatives flew to the Damascus International Airport with drones and explosives, and continued on to Iranian bases in Syria to prepare for an attack on Israel.

The IDF also concurrently revealed the collaboration of Lebanese terror group Hezbollah in the planned drone attack. A number of Hezbollah operatives received extensive training in how to operate UAVs and killer drones from the Iranian Quds Force in preparation for the attack.

After the IDF’s preventative strike in Syria, on Sunday, 25th August, 2019, Hassan Nasrallah, Commander of Hezbollah, delivered a speech threatening to attack Israel from Lebanon in response to Israel’s preventive strike:

“It is known that we have a clear obligation, and I'll come back and remind the whole world of this obligation: if [Israel] kills our brothers in Syria then we will respond to these deaths from Lebanon.”
