The Military Court Sentenced an Additional Defendant in the Case of the Murder of Eitam and Na'ama Henkin to two Life Sentences and Another 30 Years Imprisonment
Today (Monday), June 26, 2023, the Military Court sentenced Zid Amar, who was convicted, following a trial, of two offenses of intentionally causing the death (equivalent to the crime of murder in Judea and Samaria) of the late Eitam and Na'ama Henkin on October 1, 2015. In addition, the defendant was convicted of four offenses of attempting to cause the death of the late Henkins’ four children, as well as of additional offenses.
After hearing the parties' arguments regarding sentencing, the Military Court sentenced the defendant to two life sentences and another 30 years of imprisonment. The defendant will also pay compensation fees to the victims of the offense in the total amount of three million NIS.
As part of the verdict, it was determined that the defendant planned to carry out a shooting attack together with his accomplices, gave them weapons and ammunition, and later ensured that security forces were not present at the location where they intended to carry out the attack. The accomplices identified the Henkin family’s vehicle, shot dozens of bullets in its direction while they were driving as well as after they stopped, and then shot the late Eitam and Na’ama Henkin. The Military Court accepted the position of the Military Prosecution according to which the defendant should be convicted of committing the offenses, despite not being present at the scene of the attack.
The Military Prosecution is in contact with the families of the late Eitam and Na’ama Henkin and is notifying them of advancements in the case
