IDF and ISA forces Apprehended a Suspect who Assisted in Hiding the Terrorist Squad that Carried out the Shooting Attack at the Almog Junction

Today (Monday), IDF and ISA forces, following ISA intelligence, apprehended Waal ‘Aa Hafez Awidat, 50 years old from the Aqabat Jabr camp.

Waal was previously imprisoned and he is associated with the Hamas terrorist organization. He is the father of two members of the terrorist squad that carried out the shooting attack at the Almog Junction on January 28th, 2023. The terrorist squad was neutralized on February 6th, 2023. Waal is suspected of assisting in hiding the terrorist squad and encouraging the terrorists to carry out additional attacks.

During the activity, the soldiers surrounded the suspect’s residence, called him to exit the residence and fired shots in the area until the suspect turned himself in. Furthermore, a violent riot was instigated during which dozens of suspects hurled rocks at the soldiers, who responded with riot dispersal means, including .22 caliber rounds. Hits were identified.

The suspect was transferred to the ISA for further questioning, no IDF injuries were reported.
