Judea and Samaria

The region of Judea and Samaria (also known as the West Bank) is an area of 5,860 square kilometers with a population of about 2.5 million people, mostly Palestinian.

On its eastern border are the country of Jordan and the Dead Sea, and on its north, south and west, the Green Line of 1949 (the armistice line between Israel and Jordan after the War of Independence). The region has been controlled by Israel since the end of the Six Day War in 1967.
