The IDF began using the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter in 1994, as the IDF started to replace its Bell 212 helicopters.

The Blackhawk, which is manufactured by the Sikorsky company, is capable of conducting a wide variety of missions.

The Blackhawk's first use in combat by the IDF was in Lebanon in 1996 during Operation Grapes of Wrath.
