Chief of Staff appoints new IDF Spokesperson

Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz made a series of new appointments to senior IDF positions; Brig. Gen. Moti Almoz to replace Brig. Gen. Yoav Mordechai as IDF Spokesperson

Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz decided today (Monday, April 29) on a series of new appointments for senior positions in the IDF. The appointments were approved by Minister of Defense Mr. Moshe Ya'alon.

Brig. Gen. Moti Almoz was appointed as the new IDF Spokesperson. Brig. Gen. Almoz, who currently serves as the head of the Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria, will replace Brig. Gen. Yoav Mordechai.

The list of new appointments included that of Brig. Gen. David Menachem, currently serving as the Chief of Staff of the Central Command, as the new Head of the Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria where he will be replacing Brig. Gen. Almoz.

Col. Avner Paz-Tzuk who currently serves as the head of the IDF's Cyber Division will be promoted to the rank of brigadier general and will replace Brig. Gen. Eli Shermeister as Chief Education Officer and become the new head of the Education and Youth Corps.

The appointments will come into effect at a later date.
