Cpt. Ziv Shilon was injured this week by a powerful explosion while on a routine patrol along the security fence
Yesterday (Thursday, October 25), Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz visited Cpt. Ziv Shilon, an IDF officer who was injured by a powerful explosion along the Gaza border on Tuesday (October 23).
Meeting with the Chief of Staff, Cpt. Shilon expressed disappointment that he would not immediately be able to return to commanding his company. Lt. Gen. Gantz urged the recovering soldier to take care of his health first and assured him that afterwards he would be able to resume his military service.
Cpt. Shilon was severely injured while on a routine patrol along the security fence on Tuesday. He received first aid treatment at the site and was subsequently evacuated to a hospital for continuing care. He is now in stable condition.
An initial investigation indicated that the explosion that that injured Cpt. Shilon was caused by an explosive device planted by terrorists.
