ISA report reveals significant increase in the number of terror attacks directed at Israeli civilians during month of September

During the month of September 2012, there was a dramatic increase in the number of terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians when compared to the previous month. According to a report by the Israeli Security Agency (ISA), there were 91 incidents of terrorist attacks recorded in September, compared to the 51 recorded during the month of August.
The increase was primarily felt in Judea and Samaria and within Jerusalem. Within Judea and Samaria, there were 39 recorded terror attacks in September, compared with only 19 in August. Jerusalem saw 28 terror attacks in September, compared to only 9 in August. The majority of the attacks (65 of 67) were incidents of Molotov cocktails being thrown.
Terrorist attacks originating from the Gaza Strip and Sinai Desert have remained steady with 24 attacks recorded in the month of September compared with 23 in August.
This month, on the 21st of September, an Israeli soldier was killed and another injured as a result of a complex attack carried out by a terrorist cell that infiltrated into Israel from Egypt via the Sinai Desert. In addition, four members of Israeli security forces have been injured as a result of Molotov cocktails being thrown in Jerusalem.
During the month of September, 17 rockets and 8 mortar shells were fired into Israel. These numbers are also comparable to August, which saw 21 rockets and 3 mortar shells fired into Israel.
