Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz wishes a happy New Year to the soldiers and officers of the IDF, Israel's civilian population, and the Jewish Diaspora. His video greeting appears on all of the IDF's official websites and on a number of social networks, in six languages: Hebrew, Arabic, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.
The Chief of Staff discussed the IDF's achievements over the past year, saying, "I can assure you that in the past year, the Israel Defense Forces worked around the clock to protect Israel, in ways seen and in ways hidden from the public view. On the northern front, we stood guard in challenging areas. And on the southern border, we acted quickly against infiltrations and saved countless lives. As the Chief of Staff, I can say that the Israel Defense Forces have never been stronger than they are today."
"We are confronting every security challenge facing the State of Israel, whether on our borders or far beyond. The IDF operates both near and far, at sea, in the air, and on land. We are always ready, always on guard, always looking out for the security of the people of Israel," Lt. Gen. Gantz added.
"On behalf of the IDF, I wish the entire Jewish people, in Israel and around the world, happy New Year, chag sameach [happy holiday], and shana tova [a good year]," concluded the Chief of Staff.
