The Chief of Staff referred to this week’s terrorist attack and added, “IDF must remain prepared in the face of continuous attempts to harm Israeli civilians”
The Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz and the General Staff Forum attended a ceremony today (Wednesday, August 9) marking the completion of the IDF Staff and Command Course. 91 female and male officers from all IDF units successfully completed the course and will receive the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Lt. Gen. Gantz spoke at the ceremony and said, “The terrorist attack at the Israel-Egypt border this week once again reminded us of the dangers posed by the instability in the Middle East. This attempt, similarly to previous attempted attacks, was thwarted by IDF soldiers quickly and effectively. The IDF relies on specific intelligence as well as highly prepared and trained operational forces. Terror organizations continue to carry out attempts to harm Israeli civilians and Israel’s sovereignty. Thus, the IDF must remain powerful and prepared, and respond to every incident at every front.”
During the four-month course, the officers acquired both knowledge about the military and visited the various IDF units stationed across the country.
The course stressed the importance of cooperation and of creating a common language between the different IDF units, in order to establish the IDF’s strength and readiness in the face of threats and challenges.
