Terrorists responsible for attacks along Israel-Egypt border targeted in an IDF-ISA operation, thwarting additional terror attacks
In a joint IDF-ISA operation, IAF aircraft targeted a Global Jihad-affiliated terrorist squad in the southern Gaza Strip.
IDF Spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Yoav (Poly) Mordechai said that "the terrorist squad that was targeted was working to carry out another terrorist attack in the immediate future, similar to the attack near the Sinai Peninsula. Targeting the squad thwarted an additional actual terrorist attack."
One of the terrorists, Ahmed Sai'd Isma'il, resident of Tufach, was among those responsible for the execution of the terror attack adjacent to the Israel-Egypt border, in which an Israeli civilian was killed, on June 18, 2012.
Over the past number of weeks, Achmed Sai'd as well as E'id Nadi Ucaal, resident of Rafah, in addition to several other Global Jihad members were operating in order to execute a terror attack against Israeli civilians via the Israel-Egypt border.
The IDF will not tolerate any attempt by terrorist groups to target Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers, and will continue to operate with strength and determination against those who use terror against the State of Israel.
