The first national conference on telecommunications and defense was held last week, bringing together soldiers, government officials, and high-tech workers. The conference presented a wide variety of solutions to problems that frequently face military, government, and private institutions, both in Israel and throughout the world.
The event's title, C5Israel, reflected its focus on five words central to telecommunications: communications, computing, cyber, command, and control.
Conference participants included IDF officers – among them Maj. Gen. Uzi Moscovitch, head of the Computer Services Directorate – and representatives of the Israel Police, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, the Israel Prison Service, and private high-tech and defense companies.
The topics discussed at the conference included command and control of the Iron Dome anti-missile defense system and other life-saving technologies. Participants also discussed the use of computer technology to increase the efficiency of security forces and to both share and protect information.
