Galilee Division Commander Brigadier General Herzi Halevi said on Thursday (July 5) that the IDF is prepared and ready for any scenario on the northern border, including a war against the Hezbollah terrorist organization and, if necessary, the Lebanese army.
Brig. Gen. Halevy told reporters that the IDF has incorporated many lessons in terms of its operational methods since the Second Lebanon War and Operation Cast Lead.
Brig. Gen. Halevy said that the IDF sees a connection between events in Syria and terrorist activities on the northern border and is preparing accordingly. “The chances of hostile activities in the border region continue to increase so we must be ready and prepared,” he said. “There is more than one reason that could break the silence on the northern border but the IDF knows how to give a precise and clear response to every possible scenario.”
“The challenges before us are many. We’ll need to see how to deal with the complex challenge of an enemy with many capabilities. However, if so required, we can operate on Lebanese soil and cause great damage to terrorist centers found there. Great destruction will be caused to Lebanese soil.’
