As part of preparations for the return of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, GOC Southern Command, Major General Tal Russo has declared the areas around the Ktzi'ot Prison and the Kerem Shalom, Nitzana and Erez border crossings closed military zones starting Monday (October 17).
The order bars the entry to anyone who is not a resident of the areas unless they possess a special permit provided by an authorized body, as detailed in the order.
The order does not apply to soldiers and policemen who are required to enter the areas as part of their work.
Shalit will be transferred to Israel via Egypt on Tuesday morning (October 18). When Shalit arrives in Israel, he will be checked by a doctor. At the same time, Shalit will speak with his family by telephone.
Within a short time period, Shalit will be flown to the Tel Nof Airbase where he will meet his family. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be present.
While at Tel Nof, Shalit will undergo additional medical and psychological tests.
